Is GoodBilling HIPAA compliant?

GoodBilling is built to support HIPAA-aligned workflows, including secure handling of PHI, encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, audit logging, and least-privilege permissions. Our infrastructure is designed on AWS using HIPAA-eligible services and security best practices appropriate for healthcare environments.

Do you sign a Business Associate Agreement (BAA)?

Yes. We support signing a BAA with covered entities and other eligible partners as part of our onboarding and compliance process.

Where is our data stored?

Data is hosted in a secure AWS environment (U.S. regions) with encryption at rest and in transit, private networking controls, and centralized audit logging. We can share details on data residency and region choices during security review.

How do you protect PHI?

We use layered controls including encryption (in transit and at rest), strict role-based access, secure secrets management, environment segmentation, logging and monitoring, and automated security posture tooling. We also apply “minimum necessary” principles for data access and processing.

Data sharing & Third Parties

Who do you share data with?

We share data only with the parties necessary to deliver RCM services—such as payers, EMR systems you authorize, and EDI partners—based on your configuration and operational requirements. We do not sell patient data.

Do you send PHI to third-party AI models?

When AI is used, GoodBilling is designed to minimize exposure of PHI. For certain workflows, we de-identify or anonymize data before it’s used by external models. For sensitive tasks, we can run models inside our controlled environment. We’ll outline exactly which workflows use which approach during implementation and security review.

Do you integrate with clearinghouses or EDI vendors?

Yes. We integrate with EDI platforms (e.g., Stedi) to create and submit claims and to process EDI responses like claim status and remittance information. This enables automated claim lifecycle tracking and reconciliation.

Can you restrict which integrations are enabled?

Yes. Integrations (EMR connections, EDI routing, AI features) are configurable, and we can tailor data flows to match your policies and compliance requirements.

Human Backup & Exceptions

Is there a human backup if automation can’t complete verification?

Yes. Human operators are available as a fallback when programmatic verification methods fail, when payers require manual steps, or when a case needs additional validation.

What happens when an agent can’t get the answer from the payer?

The system escalates the case to a human queue with the full context and a structured checklist of what’s missing. Once completed, the verified result is stored and used for future automation and policy normalization.

Pricing & Fees

How does pricing work?

GoodBilling charges a simple, performance-based fee: 4% of the allowed value of successfully adjudicated claims. That means you only pay when a claim is processed and results in an approved adjudication—no per-seat licenses, no per-claim submission fees, and no paying for “attempts.”

What’s included in the 4% fee?

The fee includes the core automation needed to run your RCM workflow end-to-end, including:

Verification of Benefits (VoB) — fully funded eligibility checks plus agentic verification workflows for more complex plans

Patient Eligibility Links — embeddable links for each client that collect insurance + relevant clinical context

Patient Responsibility Estimates — an upfront estimate of expected out-of-pocket cost and coverage visibility to reduce onboarding friction

Claim Creation & Submission Support — automated claim generation from documentation workflows and claim lifecycle tracking (including claim status responses)
